Sale Property Consultants needed a lightning fast turnaround for the design of their corporate image & complete printing production which we completed from first draft to delivery within 14 days. Next step is their website which we are well on with & on track to go live by the end of February.

Also in production for January/February are a new website & promotional material for Ribble Valley Personal Fitness, new website for Brides Little Helper & a new website for Hardman Wood Solicitors, Blackburn.

I also found time to produce the website for the new offshoot from our corporate video production side -Lancashire Wedding Video – with a glowing testimonial from the shoot for Tom & Joannas wedding at the Stirk House Country hotel in December.

Back to work….

Green Cottage Design in Westminster

Big Ben

Outside the Houses of Parliment (I had to lie on the floor to get this shot!)

On Tuesday 15th December I joined a group of schoolchildren, teachers & parents from Blackburn, Sheffield and Manchester on a visit to the House of Commons to document their presentation to cabinet ministers including Jack Straw, Rosie Winterton and Greg Pope. The trip was organised by Class of your own and everyone owes an enormous debt of gratitude to Alison Watson & Dan Gibson who coordinated the itinerary for the day with military precision, not least for allowing yours truly to navigate his way through the reams of security with a substantial arsenal of video and sound recording equipment!

It was a pleasure to film the day and see all the effort the children had put into their presentations and a special mention to Matthew who, although wheeled in and out of trains, taxis, lifts and all over the Houses of Parliament in his wheelchair always had a grin on his face. His interviewing wasn’t half bad either – watch out Paxman!

I cant wait to complete the editing of day and let the children and their parents see how well they came across.

Tree planting initiative

From the Clitheroe Advertiser & others November 2009:

Local website company Green Cottage Design of Sabden are reinforcing their green ethos by planting and dedicating indigenous, organically grown tree saplings to every new website they design  as part of their company environmental policy.

Green Cottage already use eco friendly, CO2 neutral web hosting for every website they design. The hosting service provider utilise wind, water and solar power in accordance with the Renewable Energy Certification System (RECS).

Owner and designer Mick Threlfall said,  “As a member of the Sustainable Tourism Business Network for the Forest of Bowland, itself an area of outstanding natural beauty, I wanted to give something back to the local community and help to reinvest in the natural environment at the same time.

Many trees in the area around Sabden were chopped down and used for the war effort in World War II. What better time to start reinstating those trees than on Remembrance Day, in memory of the region’s people who gave their lives to this country.”

Local farmer Bobby Gill of Cockshotts Farm was only too pleased to offer the planting site in support of this very worthy initiative.

At last!

Well, finally got around to producing our own blog after working flat out for the last six months and creating some very successful ones for my clients.

What’s on the horizon? I’m pleased to announce the Green Cottage Design tree planting initiative will begin on Remembrance Day, 2009. I’d like to thank Bobby Gill for donating some of his land on Pendle Hill above Sabden to kick start my tree planting initiative for every website I produce. Watch this space for more information.

Also coming up are several exciting videography commissions including documenting a presentation to some leading cabinet ministers at the House of Commons and producing a promotional video for a industry leading blue chip plastic manufacturer (closed loop manufacture and as eco friendly as possible of course). Time to give the once a-year suit an airing!

Let’s see how long it takes to get around to the next post!
